154cc Bi-Cylinder Dragster Designed by ALP Design Feat. MXS Custom

A first in France: Alain (ALP Design) has developed a bi-cylinder dragster for us, based on a horizontal Minarelli engine. Two Malossi big bore 77cc cylinders were decided on, which offers us a total capacity of 154cc!!! The link mechanism is composed of two Polini Evo crankshafts that have been completely reworked and locked opposite each other at 180° (i.e. when one piston is at the upper dead centre and the other is at the lower dead centre). The ignition sparks are guaranteed by two PVL Stage6 ignitions, the stators of which were cut to allow them to be combined. The intake is made up of two Malossi VL14 reed blocks, two Stage6 intakes as well as two 32 mm Koso carburettors. The variation component is composed of an Overrange Malossi pack, a Stage6 clutch as well as a Malossi Wing Bell. The transmission can be varied according to the distance of the run. Evacuating the exhaust fumes is entrusted to Yasuni with two C30 exhausts. All this was developed by Alain from the ALP Design team.

Such a fuel machine requires precise-tuning, in a way that allows the power of each cylinder to be added. That is why test bench tuning is necessary. During the first test run at the Scooter Power 2008 meeting, it produced a power of 27.7 hp at almost 20,000 rpm!!!

After numerous hours spent tuning the variation and the clutch, it achieved just under 40 hp. After installing a Stage6 inertia breaker plate, an increase of 1.6 hp was immediately observed without needing to alter anything else. Raising an inertia breaker plate allows high load and torque to be gained. The current power is 41.6 hp.
